The Art of Dead

elephantsandgold:

The practice of embalming

Must add splendor to the tedium of death

The idea that something

Still

Is worth preserving

Tickles the heart-string

And rewinds

All our fatalistic inclinations.

To her,

it is not a dead art

but a ritual of life,

not to be disturbed by modern

sensibility nor contemporary

death denial.

Mummification with Anubis

I don’t even care that this was more than likely made for kids. It was pretty awesome.
